Summer, Growth

Many of the prairie plants bloom in mid-summer. The Gallardia pulchella is profuse and the Rudbeckia texas creates a dense stand in the center of the plots. Towards the end of the summer, the Liatris begins to flower with its long, purple stems swaying in the wind.

We are mowing the mow paths more frequently in the summer to keep them clear and to prevent the Bermuda grass from growing into the plots.
